Former Scout hut sells for £145k at auction
The 0.39-acre freehold site, off St Nicholas Avenue, was among 145 lots being sold by regional land and property auctioneers Clive Emson yesterday.
Rob Marchant, auctioneer, said: ‘The plot, with the derelict former Scout hut, attracted keen interest, with the final bid £40,000 above the guide price. There is the potential for residential development here, subject to planning permission.’

Hide AdA freehold vacant shop and rented three-bedroom maisonette in Gregson Avenue, Gosport, also fetched £156,000 in another bidding war.
Mr Marchant said: ‘The gavel came down on a bid which was £31,000 above the guide price. The three-storey property is in a parade of shops, just off the A32, with the flat generating £450 per month, hence the fierce bidding.’
Land, with lapsed planning permission for a pair of one-bedroom flats, at St Edwards Terrace, Forton, fetched £35,000. A block of nine flats at 64-66 Fratton Road, Fratton, which used to be the former Magpie pub, did not sell at its guide price of £750,000-plus.
The next auction takes place at Ageas Bowl at 11am on Friday, July 29.
