Portsmouth app creator pleased as Lord Mayor of Portsmouth backs new initiative
Councillor Rob Wood and wife Debbie attended an event at The Gaiety Bar in Southsea for app, The Contactless Menu, which allows diners to pay, place orders, check queues and book tables from their phones.
The first wave of restaurants involved in the pilot scheme include Catalan Barcelona, The Sunday Post and Pitigliano, all in Southsea.

‘The app was used at The Gaiety Bar on Friday night for an event and it meant the bar was kept pretty clear of people which is good for safety measures and people prefer getting table service when they can anyway.
The team is still looking for more restaurants, including chains, to take part in the pilot for free by emailing [email protected].
Each will be provided with a handheld terminal that links to the app, which they can keep by paying a small commission on orders if they wish to take part after the pilot.
