Portsmouth area 'is most affordable place to buy a house' in Hampshire
Figures from house price comparison website Zoopla show that the city of Portsmouth and the surrounding towns are the most affordable places in the county.
Each area of Hampshire is judged using the website’s ‘Zed-index’ - the average house price in a given area based on current Zoopla estimates.

Hide AdGosport comes in as the cheapest area with an average price of just £200,955 , followed by Portsmouth with £222,315 and Southsea with £230,920.
It’s a far cry from Brockenhurst, which has an average of £790,726.
There have been more than 20,000 properties sold in Hampshire over the last 12 months, at an average price of £307,036.
This week The News has revealed the most expensive streets to live in Portsmouth, Gosport, Fareham, Havant and Waterlooville.
