Plenty of national pride on show at Gosport school's celebration

The event began with children, staff and parents joining in with a hearty rendition of the national anthem in honour of the Queen.
The children performed a traditional English country dance, sang a song, recited a poem, and retold the story of St George with puppets.

Hide AdThe Great Haselworth Bake Off was a huge success and Mrs Hall, the school cook, had a huge dilemma when deciding on the prize-winning cakes because the standard was so high.

She said: ‘Even Mary Berry would have struggled to choose a winner.’
Eventually after much deliberation siblings Alexis, in Year 6, and Alison, in Year 3, were crowned overall winners.
Alexis said: ‘I loved making the cake but I didn’t like tidying the kitchen afterwards.’

Hide AdMartina, in Year 6 said: ‘I was really out of breath after dancing the St George’s Reel. Country dancing is a good way to keep fit.’

Hugh, pictured below, dressed up as St George.
Aimie Williams, chair of governors said: ‘We were very pleased to have so many parents joining us to celebrate such an important date in the English calendar.
‘As a school we feel it is important to promote fundamental British values in a way that appeals to both children and adults in our community.’
