Around 100 students from Bay House School went on a half-term skiing trip to Austria, but also crossed the border to northern Italy – where the coronavirus has rapidly spread in recent days
But a letter sent to parents has told them that pupils went less than 100 metres across the border for some food, and were back in Austria within an hour.

Hide AdMum Paula Holloway, whose daughter Keeley Pedelty went on the trip, says everything has been explained by the school.
Paula, 41, said: ‘We got a letter from the school saying that there have been confirmed cases in Italy, but the nearest town where that's happened was 150 miles away.
‘The children were only in Italy for about an hour or so – they just popped over for lunch.
‘The school has done a good job to put everyone at ease over it, so I’m not worried at all.’

The letter, which was sent to parents today, said: ‘No staff or children who have returned from this trip have reported symptoms to the school.’
Anyone who has returned from northern Italy since February 19 and is experiencing symptoms such as a cough, fever, or shortness of breath, is advised to self-isolate and dial 111.
