Leigh Park murder investigation: Hampshire police look for knife following death of George Allison

George Allison, 21 from Riders Lane, Havant, was fatally stabbed on the evening of Saturday, May 23 at a home in Tichborne Grove, Leigh Park.
A 27-year-old woman from Southsea also suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Hide AdResidents in Leigh Park have received a letter from Hampshire Constabulary, appealing for help in finding a knife which could be nearby.
Writing to neighbours, Detective Inspector Lee McClellan said: ‘You may have seen our officers and staff searching the area and engaging with the public, but I still need your help.
‘I am specifically looking for a large kitchen knife that may have been used in the assault.
‘Can I ask you to please check your gardens and bins and see if this item is present?’

Hide AdShould anyone find a blade or other unexplained items, they are asked to cover it and call 101, but not pick up or carry it.
Police are also appealing for any additional information that might help them with the case, such as CCTV footage or eyewitness accounts.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting the crime reference number 44200184002.
Kevin Batchelor, 25, of East Hill, Camborne, Cornwall, was charged with murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He appeared at Winchester Crown Court via videolink today.

Hide AdThe defendant, wearing a grey T-shirt, spoke only to confirm his name during the short hearing.
Judge Keith Cutler set a trial date of November 9 with Batchelor expected to enter pleas at a preliminary hearing planned for July 16.
He told the defendant: ‘Your legal team will be working hard on your behalf, when they are able to speak to you to prepare your case, please co-operate with them.’
A 33-year-old woman from Havant, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, has been questioned by officers and released under investigation.
