Review over trans prison population by minister
Davina Ayrton, 34, of Sumner House care home in Fordingbridge, was last week remanded into custody after being found guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court of a 2004 rape on a 15-year-old.
The prison service said it did not comment on individuals, but reiterated Gosport MP and justice minister Caroline Dinenage’s statement on transgender prisoners.

She said: ‘However, we have received a number of representations expressing concern that the present system doesn’t sufficiently address the needs of transgender prisoners.’
Speaking of a wider review she added: ‘The review will develop recommendations for revised guidelines which cover the future shape of prison and probation services for transgender prisoners and offenders in the community.’
