Fareham Meon Rotary club plants purple flowers for polio awareness
The Rotary Club of Fareham Meon planted purple crocus bulbs last autumn to mark fewer cases of polio being reported worldwide.
The bright floral display can be seen at the back of the Cams Mill pub, off the A27 in Fareham.

Hide AdA spokesman from the Rotary Club said: ‘The reason the crocus are purple is to illustrate the fact that in the Third World when children receive their immunisation, the little finger of one hand is dipped into a purple dye to help ensure that no-one is missed.
‘The dye disappears naturally after a few days. Immunisation campaigns must continue for three years to ensure that the disease is finally beaten.’
