Barista Yvonne's in the running to be named world's best
Costa barista, Yvonne Corcoran has earned a place in this year’s Costa’s annual Barista of the Year after coming top at a competitive knockout stage and sealing her place at the Champions of Champions final in London next year.
Yvonne said: ‘It’s been a bizarre experience to get this far in the competition, but I’m so grateful and happy to have had this opportunity.’

Hide AdThe 22-year-old has worked at the branch in Queen Alexandra Hospital for four years and decided to enter the annual competition which sees baristas from all over the world showcase their passion and flair for coffee for the chance to be crowned Costa’s Barista of the Year.
Yvonne said: ‘The competition is a great way for baristas to have a bit of fun and challenge themselves.’
The Champions final will include a series of challenges such as an espresso race where finalists will compete against one another to pour the most perfect espressos in a minute.
Contestants have also been asked to showcase their own creativity by inventing and preparing their own signature drink of the judges.

Hide AdYvonne’s creation for the competition is La Café Gourmand de Macaron.
She based her beverage on the flavours of French macarons and describes the drink as having notes of vanilla and almond that complement the sweetness of the Mocha Italia coffee bean.
Yvonne added: ‘It’s a great opportunity to learn about yourself and grow as a barista.’
The Champion of Champions Final will be held at in London in January 2018 with the winner taking home the trophy as well as a 10 day trip for two with spending money to a destination with a coffee connection.
