Coastguard uses inflatable mats to reach cow stuck in mud near River Hamble

Alongside a boat from the River Hamble Harbour Authority and an animal specialist team from Hampshire Fire and Rescue, the coastguard team deployed inflatable mats to reach the stricken animal at 4.40pm.
A spokesman from coastguard service said: ‘The call came from a member of the public who was walking by the river near The Horse and Jockey pub.

Hide Ad‘They reported that there was a cow in difficulty in the mud.
‘The teams needed to wait for the tides to allow them to get closer to the animal.
‘Passers-by and the owners of the cow were on the scene, but there is no record that anyone needed rescuing.’
Rescue teams were on the scene for more than four hours.
The cow had to be put down due to its injuries.
