Portsmouth ship excels in the Road to Twickenham fundraiser
HMS Iron Duke’s ship’s company completed the annual Road to Twickenham event in support of last weekend’s army vs navy rugby match.
The event sees fundraisers covering the distance from their location to the London rugby stadium.

Hide AdFor Iron Duke, it meant travelling the 415 miles from the Scottish port of Leith to Twickenham.
A total of 71 of the ship’s company tackled the challenge and smashed their target, notching a total of 515 miles. Their reward was a flight-deck barbecue organised by the Petty Officers’ Mess.
Notable achievements came from Able Seaman (AB) Trow who ran 15 miles, with AB Gleed ran 13 miles, Surgeon Lieutenant Walters recorded a personal best by jogging 10 miles while AB Snell completed 12 miles.
Below deck saw Warrant Officer Patton cycled 24 miles with Leading Hand Worley completing a combined distance of 25 miles.
