About 50 part-time sailors from the Whale Island-based HMS King Alfred reserve unit visited the Isle of Wight for a range of team building events.
They tackled everything from weapon training, orienteering and camouflage techniques, to a light-hearted raft-building drill.

He joined the reserves after completing a 27-year career in the navy, serving as Chief of Catering on HMS Illustrious.
He now plays a key role in the reserve’s newly-formed Chef branch, and helped to feed all the hungry reservists on exercise – something which he said he enjoyed.
