Gareth Evans delivers emotional farewell tribute to Portsmouth adventure
and live on Freeview channel 276
The huge fans’ favourite is expected to officially leave the club he joined in 2015 today, after making 218 appearances and scoring 38 goals.
Evans will go down as one of the most popular figures to wear a royal blue shirt in recent times, and the 32-year-old has taken to poetry to express his affinity with the club, in a farewell address to fans.
Here’s what he wrote on social media below:
Fratton’s a good day out
Good atmosphere they said
‘I’ll have some of that my friend,
It’s that five hour drive I dread’
But I got in that car anyway
Hoping to earn a deal
Two goals in two games later
12 months and lunchtime meals
I came here for promotion
I’d be happy with that I thought
So I got on the stage at Southsea
Six pints, a mic and support
Little did I know
When I signed for this great club
I’d play for them at Wembley
Even though I started as sub
Five years of ups and downs
It’s not been easy that’s true
But 218 games later
Safe to say I’m a BLUE
